Father's Day

I am a horrible wife...I was just taking some pictures of Addy and looking back through past pictures I have taken I realized there was the picture I had Tim take on his first Father's Day.  :-(
Anyways, we came home from Palm Springs on Father's Day.  Tim had to work (nope TJs doesn't give fathers the day off) so we came home pretty early so we could just chill.  On our way home Addy got super sick (our first real experience) and Tim earned his title of "AWESOME Dad". Addy was worn out so she wouldn't even wake up to take a picture with her daddy.  Oh well. Still a cute picture.

So, happy belated Father's Day to my best friend, my awesome husband, and a fabulous daddy!  LOVE YOU MONKEY!

My sweet girl

Addy and I were having a rough afternoon, until we feel asleep together on the couch.  Amazing how cuddling with a baby can erase the frustrations of the day.  I was able to snap a picture (thank goodness for cell phone cameras!) without waking my little one up and thought she was too adorable to not share.

Real food...mmmmm.

At Adelyn's 4 month check-up, our pediatrician gave us the thumbs up to start her on real food.  He suggested we start with cereal first and then to ease her into real food.  I was super excited and headed over to Henry's to buy some cereal and jars of food.  I forgot some baby spoons, so we bought those yesterday.
Today, after I put the high chair together, Addy tried baby cereal.  She did pretty good, other than putting her hands in her mouth, and seemed to really enjoy the cereal.  We had cereal again for dinner and it was still a success.  So much fun!!
And of course I have a video:

Laundry

I hate laundry...I actually don't mind putting laundry in the washer and then the dryer, but I have a really hard time folding laundry.  When I lived at my mom's house, I used to take my laundry out, put it on her pool table, and then leave it until I had worn everything.  When I was in college, I would leave it in the dryer until my roommates took it out and put it in my laundry basket.  Then I would sift through my basket everyday to get my outfit for the day.  When I got married, I would plan laundry day to a day when both Tim and I were home so we could do it together (only 1/2 of the work!).  Now that I have a baby, I must admit, I am HORRIBLE at doing laundry...I still hate doing it and instead of just leaving my clean clothes somewhere, I just don't do it.  So, tonight when Tim was getting Addy ready for bed, who didn't have any pajamas?  That would be my baby girl...  It is okay though, her daddy improvised.  What do you think of Addy's pjs?

And trust me, this improvised outfit is not solely the result of a mommy hating laundry, but rather our dryer not actually drying clothes.  We do have some clean pjs in the dryer, but they are not dry after being in there for over an hour and a half.  So, don't think I am a completely lazy mommy, just somewhat lazy. :-)

Laughing...what a wonderful sound!

Addy has started laughing!!!  And I LOVE it...  She laughed for Tim yesterday and then today she was on a roll!  Her Grandpa Dennis really got her going and I was able to get a video.  Sorry for some of the shaking, but I was laughing myself.   There are two videos....I hope you enjoy both!

And nope, Addy didn't spit up on Dennis until after all of the videos were shot! :-)

Family Photo Shoot

I won a free photo shoot and I think the photos came out GREAT!  I am super excited that we have some nice family pictures we can frame.  Thanks Craig!

A Little Getaway

Tim & I have been working a lot lately and both of us were feeling a little burnt out and in a need of a getaway.  So, just the three of us escaped to the desert to play for a couple of days.  Addy played in the pool for her first time, Tim & I ate lots of yummy food, and we were able to just lie around and do nothing.  Palm Springs, we will be back!
Marriott beds are the best!  Even Addy agrees!

Happy girl

Just chillin' at the pool

My 4 Month Old

My baby girl is 4 months, 5 days old.  She weighs 16 lbs exactly and is 24 1/2 inches long.  She is in the 55th percentile for her height and 90th percentile for her weight.  She is my little chunker, but I wouldn't want it any other way.
She wiggles, squeals, and "talks" all of the time. She loves her evening baths and to be held by her mommy and daddy.  She is probably one of the most easy-going, happy babies ever and is content playing in her stroller, on a blanket on the floor, on my lap, and of course, on the couch.  Her favorite toys are her plush farm toys that crinkle, rattle, and are made of different materials.
She acts like she is teething, but really isn't. She wakes up in the morning with enough smiles on her face to brighten anyone's day.  She loves her doggies and watches them while they play.  She sucks her pacifier constantly, even in her sleep.  She loves to cuddle.
And she is my baby girl, my world.

Love you, Addy Kay!

June

So this is an apology post.  See, I come up with all kinds of blog ideas in my head and then I forget to actually post them.  I have a reason though.  June is the CRAZIEST month of the year for teachers.  June is like the holidays for people in retail, spring for wedding planners, tax season for tax preparers, summer for pool cleaners, etc.  I am sure you get the point.  So, while I have been able to try and survive June, my blog has suffered and I wanted to tell you that I am sorry.  I am hoping to catch up soon.

Chuck E. Cheese

My cousin, Dylan, is very special to Tim & I.   Not only is Dylan the first little kid that Tim has been around to see group up since he was a baby, but Dylan was also the ring bearer at our wedding.  He has always been my "little man" and he has become such a great big cousin to Adelyn.

So, this weekend we went to Chuck E. Cheese to celebrate Dylan's 8th birthday.  Addy got to meet Chuck E. for her first time and I have a feeling it won't be her last time.  Despite my little one deciding to be super fussy, we all had a great time.  I even got to play a couple of rounds of skeeball.  Super fun!!

Happy birthday, Dyl!  We love you!

Just Another Sunday

I have had a few requests that I post another video of Addy.  Today she was trying really hard to sit up at lunch, so I figured I would take a video of her trying to sit on the couch.  It kind of worked...she was really moving around, so here is a feeble attempt to show her sitting up.  By the time I got a somewhat good video, she was more slouching than sitting.  Nonetheless, here is a video of my almost four month old.  Enjoy!

Sleepy Head-Part 2

I don't think my pictures did justice to how much Addy fights sleep, so I decided to take a video today. This is only one minute of the 35 it took her to get to sleep today.  And yes, I am religious about cutting her nails since she has scratched her face on many occasions while fighting sleep.

Sleepy Head

Adelyn is a good sleeper...once she gets to sleep.  She fights sleep with every ounce of her body and will literally hit herself to stay awake.  In this little fight with sleep she often grabs whatever is closest and pulls it to her face. Here are two pictures to help illustrate.
Peek A Boo

Almost there...even have half of a touchdown.

Lil Stinker...

My precious little girl was a little stinker earlier this week.  The two days this week when I was a "single" mom (aka Tim was working late and I was home by myself), my little girl decided I had to hold her.  I was not able to put her down on the couch next to me, or in the swing (which ALWAYS works).

Nope, I wasn't allowed to put her down when I was trying to cook dinner or then eating my dinner.  Instead I did both of these items with my little one attached to me.  She didn't cry the whole time. In fact, she even took a smiling picture in the mirror.

*Disclaimer: Please ignore this picture of me.  Look at my darling daughter, not her tired looking mommy. Thank you.

So, she must have just needed some mommy time.  I am not going to complain either. While I enjoy working and having an "adult" life of my own, I also miss my little girl while I am gone.  And she won't be so little forever, so I am going to enjoy it while I can.

Couch Potato

One of Addy's new favorite activities is sitting on the couch and playing with her toys.  It is great practice for sitting up on her own and we love playing with her next to us.  It is also a great way to wear her out.

Happy Girl

Adelyn has started laughing out loud and I must admit, I LOVE IT!  She is so funny and cute.  It has only truly happened a few times, so no video, but I do have a picture.

Happy girl.

Teething?

I don't think so, but Addy does sure love to gnaw on her frozen teething ring.

Rockin' N Rollin'

Last year Tim ran in the Rock N Roll Marathon.  Due to an injury he was supposed to walk most of the marathon, but in the end he ran the whole thing.  While I was watching I became inspired to run.  I wanted to be a part of this fun event and run at least a portion of the marathon.  So, last year I made the goal of being able to run at least a portion of the Rock N Roll relay.   My goal of running only became stronger when we found out about Alison's diagnosis of lymphoma.  The proceeds from the Rock N Roll go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, so I had an even more personal reason for running.
When I got pregnant with Addy, I immediately started trying to figure out if I would have enough time to train for the long portion of the relay.  I figured that I would at least try and if I put my mind to it, I could do it.  I also convinced Alison & Tim they wanted to run a leg of the relay.  Tim also recruited his coworker, Cynthia, to run a leg, so we were set for our team.
So, I started off at 6:30 am to do my 7.4 miles.  I was successful in jogging (not running) my portion in under 13 minute mile pace (my goal).  Cynthia, Tim, & then Alison were also successful in completing their portions and as a team we were able to complete the full marathon in just a little over 5 hours.  Thank you Team Alibelle!!  You were awesome!

To make the day even more special, Cyndy, Josh, & my Uncle Dick ran in the half marathon.  They finished the WHOLE thing in about 3 1/2 hours.  I am so proud of my whole family!  We all set out to achieve our personal goals and were all able to.  Congratulations again, Cyndy, Josh, & Uncle Dick!  You rocked!

When we got home Tim, Addy, & I all took nice long naps.  We were all exhausted.

Then Tim & I celebrated with good bottle of champagne.  It tasted delicious after a long day.

Now that I have done 7.4 miles, I am thinking I am going to aim for 13.1 next year.  Anyone want to join me for the half-marathon?  :-)

Mom & Dad's Night Out

I love that Tim works for Trader Joe's.  We get a small discount, Tim has great co-workers, my husband does most of my grocery shopping, and last but not least, Tim & I get to go to one fancy party a year, the Full-Timers Party.  It is a night of free drinks, dancing, and fabulous food at a fancy hotel.  I look forward to it every year.  This year Auntie Alison volunteered to babysit for us, so Tim and I were able to sneak away for a few hours to hang out with adults.  We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed a night off.  Thanks Alison & Trader Joe's for a great night!
