All in a Friday

Fridays seem to be the best days for me to get my weekly check-ups, so Fridays it will be.  Not a bad way to end the week, listening to my baby girl's heartbeat and trying to guess when she might arrive.  This Friday Tim & I both went to the appointment and left with no significant news about when Adelyn might come.  We did learn, however, that from now until she gets here I will be given a NST (non-stress test) and ultrasound (not a fun one, but one to measure the amniotic fluid) at every appointment.

Since I was off early on Friday and Tim had the day off, we decided to make the best of the afternoon.  We originally planned to go to the zoo and then dinner, but with our appointment running longer than anticipated, we decided to go somewhere a little closer to home.  We headed out to La Jolla for Happy Hour at George's at the Cove.  It was wonderful to eat some fabulous calamari, tacos, & hamburger with an ocean view.  The ocean was a little gray (as you can see from the first picture below), but it was still beautiful.  Good for a possible last happy hour hour for quite some time.

After happy hour we took a walk around La Jolla Cove and watched the seals settle in for the night and all of the tourists take millions of pictures.  It was so calm and peaceful.  My husband, who I swear knows every restaurant in SD county, heard about a new cupcake place in La Jolla, so we had to go and find it.  They were really good cupcakes and definitely fulfilled my sweet tooth.
These are minis...we didn't eat 6 full-sized cupcakes. :-)

I noticed it was looking really beautiful on the coast so we decided to go back down to the beach to see the sunset.  It was definitely worth going back down for, absolutely beautiful.

So, while we had a busy Friday, it was a good Friday.  One I hope we can share with our little girl once she is here.

Big baby?

I just realized it has been several weeks since I last wrote!  I better make sure to make some more time to post updates!

Yesterday, Tim, my mom, & I went to Scripps La Jolla for our last ultrasound.  Our OB/Gyn & Perintologist wanted one last look at Adelyn before she was born to make sure she was still growing as she should.  Everything looks like it should and she seems to be right on track to be born in less than 4 weeks.  With everything measured, she weighs 6 pounds and 12 ounces.  Her legs are super long (thanks to Tim's genes!) and her brain & heart development are looking great.  Fabulous news for this nervous mommy!!

I wish I had some pictures to post, but since she is so big, they couldn't get much more than one portion of her body in the screen at one time.  So, no picture perfect opportunities. :-(

Adelyn must have known she was going to be on the big screen yesterday because she was moving like crazy yesterday.  She was moving so much she was giving her momma quite some pain.  She eventually calmed down (at 8 pm last night) and we were both able to get a good night's sleep.

January has definitely been a busy month while we have been trying to get ready for our little girl.  Thankfully we were able to spend some time with friends, celebrate birthdays, and have some family time over the last couple of weeks.  Hopefully the next four will go just as fast.  As for the countdown, only 29 more days!

The Countdown Begins...

First and foremost, Happy New Year!!  I have a feeling 2010 is going to be a great year!

So....I have tried really, really hard to not count down the days until my due date when Adelyn is supposed to make her appearance.  However, with the increasing swift kicks to the ribs, increasing number of Braxton Hicks, and the inability to get comfortable in bed, I have found myself starting to count down the days until our due date.  This is not without some apprehension, however, as there are still some things we need to get accomplished before our little girl is here.

While Mandy was here we did get one item marked off the list: the stroller.  I thought it would be complicated to figure out the stroller and put it together, but it actually was very easy.  To give it a whirl we gave Lily a little ride.  She didn't like it too much, but it did give me some practice pushing a stroller.

This week, Tim and I are also starting our child birth classes and taking two parenting classes.  By the end of the week we will know some breathing strategies, how to change a diaper, how to pick up a baby, and what to do a bath time. :-)  That makes us pros, right?

Along with some a last couple of things to buy for the nursery, I think we will be ready to go.  Only 6 weeks, or 47 days, left until February 21st when hopefully we will have already met or will be meeting our little girl!
