Mini Photo Shoot

I have some friends with some pretty fancy cameras.  While I have not given into buying a fancy camera, I have been inspired to take LOTS of pictures of my little girl. So, yesterday when my mom asked me if I was going to take Addy to get her pictures taken, I quickly responded...No, I have taken lots of pictures.  Then I thought about it some more and decided to take some more "formal" pictures of Addy.  So, here are a couple that I think are cute.  Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Over She Goes

Today Addy & I were at my mom's house waiting for the dogs to be finished at the groomers and we decided to do some tummy time and ...Addy rolled over! Not only did she do it once, she did it twice, and then three times!  I think overall we got her to roll over five times before she was too fussy to keep making her do it again.  I have been anxiously waiting for her to really to roll, so this was quite exciting for me.  Unfortunately Tim was at work, but we will do it again tomorrow so he can see it.  Here is a video.  Enjoy!

Comments

I have gotten a few comments that people have not been able to make comments on my posts.   So, I just went to test it out and you can definitely make comments if you hit the "Comments" link at the bottom of a post.  Then write your comment and choose to leave the comment as "Anonymous".  You can always sign your name with your comment so I know who it is.  Then it will ask you to type two words you see (for security) and then it will give you a message that I have to approve your message before it can be seen.  I hope this helps!  And I would love any messages/comments you send our way.

It's the Little Things

This morning I have been thinking about how I was going to write this entry...so here we go.

A couple of years ago I was in a car accident.  A pretty serious car accident.  I was not injured in any way, shap,e or form, which if you saw my car, you would agree was a miracle.  Since that day I have tried very hard to be thankfully for every day I have been given and tried to be thankful for the big things, but not to forget the little things either.

Yesterday, Adelyn turned 1 month old.  Amazing.  Time has flown by so fast and I find myself forgetting to enjoy all of the little things she does.  She coos, caas, grunts, makes funny faces, smiles, and looks like an angel when she sleeps.  I have tried to take many pictures to document all of these things, but sometimes I just don't have a camera or if I am holding her the moment will be gone before I can get a picture.  So, yesterday I decided to just shoot a video of her awake in her bouncer.  It is not an exciting video, but it will help me remember how little she is and how cute she is when she is just interacting with me.

A couple of hours later, Tim called me to tell me he would be home late from work.  What a great guy, right?  Unfortunately, the reason was not good.  His coworker, and friend, Miles was killed yesterday afternoon by a drunk driver.  Needless to say Tim & his coworkers (including Miles' girlfriend who works at Tim's store) were very upset and Tim was just trying to keep the store going.   So, while I was trying to get dinner going and my baby fed so she could cuddle with her daddy, I was thinking again about the little things.  How I get to have dinner with my husband, enjoy a glass of wine, and of course, enjoy spending time with my little girl. We are very lucky to have each other and our little things.

So, now that I am done with my little reflection, please go out and enjoy your little things.  Maybe this video can be one of them:

Note: Addy gets hiccups ALL the time.  If you listen closely, you can hear them. :-)   And lots of love to those of you reading this.  You are part of our little things too.

Tummy Time

A couple of weeks ago, Adelyn had her first tummy time session.  I quickly learned that you don't do tummy time when the baby is hungry, otherwise they just fuss the whole time. Even so, look how close Addy gets to rolling over!  We still haven't mastered rolling over, but maybe someday soon. And please note, I picked Addy up and fed her as soon as the filming was over. :-)

Noisy Baby

So, Adelyn is a very noisy baby, especially when she is sleeping.  She has woken Tim & I up on several occassions with her many noises, but only to have us discover her sleeping soundly. I have tried several times to video tape her, but wouldn't you guess, she becomes silent as soon as the camera gets close! :-)  I did get the following video demonstrating how she asks for her food, aka sucking of the hand.

Note: No baby was starved in the shooting of this video.

Sorry it was so short, but I had to get to feeding her before full blown crying.

THE Boppy

At almost every baby shower I have ever been to as an adult there has been a Boppy given as a gift.  I have even given Boppys as gifts.  Naturally, when I registered at Babies R Us, I registered for a Boppy.   I figured, everyone else had one, I needed one too! Little did I know how much Tim and I would use it.

I love it (especially to take pictures of Addy with one hand).

Tim loves it (especially so he can safely sleep with his baby girl).

Adelyn loves it.

And Izzie & Lily love it.

So, I am glad I followed the lead and registered for a Boppy.  Thank you to all of the moms before me who have already discovered this awesome pillow!

Family Day

Tim currently has Mondays and Tuesdays off from work.  Mondays, I am usually doing schoolwork, so Tim is on full-time daddy duty.  Tuesdays, however, we get to do something fun as a family.  Today we went to Solana Beach and had lunch at Pizza Port. Not only did we get to have some really good pizza, but we also got to enjoy some great beer. Yum.
Then I wanted to go for a walk on the beach.  Unfortunately, the tide was really high and it was pretty cold thanks to some crazy wind, so no walk on the beach.  We did get to introduce Addy to the ocean though and have one photo to prove it. Hopefully when she gets bigger she will love the ocean as much as her mommy loves it.

Crazy Hair

After Addy's bath today she had some crazy hair and I forgot to include a picture with her bath pictures.  So, here it is.  I know you can't really see it all, but her hair is getting lighter.  I am not sure if the hair is actually changing color or if it is falling out and it is just lighter because there is less of it, but there has definitely be some change since she was born.

Bathtime-Take 2!

Addy's umbilical cord fell off this weekend!!  Not only is that ugly little thing gone, but we got to give Addy her first "real" bath.  I will let you decide for yourself if she liked it more than her sponge bath.

Almost smiles, right?
Now we can look forward to many more baths in the future.

Lets take a walk...

In June Tim and I are hoping to run the San Diego Rock N Roll Relay.  My goal is to be able to run the 8 mile portion, and Tim is going to run the hilly portion.   My sister, Alison, & cousin, Andrea, are going to run around the bay and to Sea World.  My other cousins, Cyndy & Josh, and my Uncle Dick are planning on running the 1/2 marathon.  In order to start working on getting fit without actually running (because I am not allowed to do that for another few weeks), Tim and I decided to go for a nice walk around Lake Poway.  Neither of us had been to Lake Poway, but I assumed there would be a nice, flat, paved path that would be easy for a woman who hasn't worked out in nine months.  I should know to never assume.

I started off by pushing the stroller, but when I realized we were going up hill, I handed it over to Tim:
Then the hills got bigger, and the path less maintained and nice:
And quickly, we were on a hike with a stroller and not the leisurely stroll I had envisioned.  Here is a view of the path from the other side of the valley where we ended up.

Do you see a lake by any chance?  Not quite yet.  Don't worry though, our little love bug did not mind this hike.  In fact, she just snoozed away.
About 2 miles into the walk, we finally ended up back by the small but pretty Lake Poway.
We even got to see a small little waterfall, which is not a normal sight for San Diego.

Even though the walk wasn't what we had planned for it was the perfect way to spend a morning: with my husband, my baby, pretty scenery, and beautiful weather.  What more could a girl ask for?

Family Party

If you know anything about my family, you know we love to celebrate.  It could be your birthday, it could be someone visiting, or it could be the birth of a new baby and my family will have a party (or meet up somewhere for food).  This past Sunday, we had all three reasons to celebrate.  It was Kay's birthday, my mom's cousin, David, was in town from Indiana, and it was time for some of my family to meet Adelyn.  My cousin, Cyndy, and her husband, Josh, hosted all of us and cooked some really great tri-tip.  Thanks Cyndy and Josh!!

Here are a few pictures:

My Uncle Paul has had some practice before, but Dylan is making sure everything is okay.

In the end it was a great day, but wore everyone out.

Bath Time

When it comes to babies and water, I can only think of slippery and losing grip.  Needless to say, I was a little nervous when it came to giving Adelyn her first bath at home.  Lucky for me, Tim was here and we had our trustworthy copy of "What to Expect the First Year" giving us step-by-step directions on how to give a baby her first bath.  (Thanks for letting me know there were instructions in there, Becky!)

Adelyn did not love the sponge bath, but she didn't hate it either.  She started off calm and seemed to enjoy being wrapped up in the towel.

Then Daddy started the washing process.

And when we were all done, Adelyn wasn't super happy.
But no worries, she was happy when she was back in her diaper and clothes.
