Taste of Cancun

I am still in the process of uploading & editing photos, but I decided to give you a little taste of Cancun right now.  These are pictures we had taken while down there.  Hope you enjoy!

Fourth of July

Two years ago when I found out I was pregnant, I dreamed of sharing the 4th of July with my baby.  Basking in the sun,  swimming (if we knew someone with a pool), yummy food, and of course, fireworks!  I hoped my child would enjoy celebrating one of my favorite holidays.
Last year Addy was a little too young to partake in the activities. This year, she was involved and seemed to love every moment (although all of my pictures show an uncharacteristically serious Addy) of jumping into the pool, "swimming" with my mom, eating cupcakes and burgers, and of course, fireworks. Only thing missing for most of the day, Tim.
My grandparents, tolerating the heat so they could watch their great-grandchildren.

What is a pool party without a pool fight?
And back home where I tried to take pictures of Addy's dress...without any real success.
But a beautiful picture of her dirty face.

Staycation

I am a sucker for a good deal, so when I saw a good deal on a hotel in San Diego, I convinced Tim he wanted to take advantage and have a little staycation. We stayed at a modern, boutique hotel in the Gaslamp.  It was different than any other hotel I have ever stayed at (seriously, who has a shower with no door right in the room and an espresso machine?).  We also timed our trip so we could see Pads games both days we were down.  Both games were great games and Addy is such a pro at baseball games now.
Addy loved spinning in this chair.
Shower in the room?  With no door?  And see through glass?
Espresso machine in the room was nice.
Huge room (and my cute husband)
My mom wanted to join us for some fun, so she came down for one of the Padres' games and then watched Addy so Tim & I could have a nice dinner out.
We also had plenty of time to wander and find coffee shops, new restaurants, and wander through the crazy (and even crazier with a stroller) Horton Plaza.

It is easy to forget what a beautiful city we live in when we just work and go home everyday.  Our staycation was a great reminder to not take San Diego for granted.

Summer Time Fun

This afternoon Addy and her friends, Charlotte & Micah, had a play date to a park in San Marcos.  Neither of the other moms nor I had been to the park, so we did not know what to expect when we heard there was a "water feature."  After some playing on the playground, Addy decided she wanted to explore the water feature.  Here is a video of her exploration with a cameo of Micah.

Tea for Two

Last week Addy rediscovered a tea set she had received as a present awhile ago (Thank you Meeks Family!). It was fun to "pour" tea into our cups.

And it sure was fun to "sip" our tea.

And since I love this dress and all of the different buttons on the back, I kept taking pictures.  Even after tea time was done.
And after the bead monster found some beads in my closet.

Rides, rides, and some junk food

First Stop: The Carlsbad Outlet Malls
Shopping gets a little boring for Addy, so my mom and I tried to break it up with a couple of rides while at the outlets.  First she "rode" in a car with Spiderman and then she rode in a train.  Addy enjoyed both although you could tell she was trying to
figure out how they both worked.

Second Stop: The Del Mar Fair (aka San Diego County Fair)
In the fair package we bought there were 50 ride coupons.  In order to make the most of our money, we needed to use the coupons. So onto the Ferris Wheel, Crazy Mouse (no Addy allowed), and the Carousel we went! While she wasn't sure about the Ferris Wheel at first, by the end Addy had a smile on her face.  Brad (Alison's boyfriend), on the other hand, did not smile until we got off.
Crazy Mouse was crazier than I remembered, but still good ole fair fun.  Addy enjoyed the carousel as long as it did not move.  As soon as it moved, she was off her horse and in the seat.  Even then she wasn't sure she liked it.

 Still fun
Thank you, Mommy for saving me from that horse!
Of course, while you are at the fair you must have fair food.  And we definitely made sure we ate our way through the day.  Addy loved all of the Australian Battered Potatoes, Farrell's Ice Cream, and mini doughnuts we gave her.
The Del Mar Fair holds great memories for me: riding the Ferris Wheel with my dad, seeing Air Supply with my parents, milking a cow when I was younger, introducing Tim to mini donuts, and telling our families I was pregnant.  I am just happy that I can share those memories and create new ones with Addy.  Can't wait for next year!
